I believe that it is important to have the students do a small amount each night. I like to have the students read and interact with a few pages in our text before our in-depth discussions in class. I also like to use homework assignments to reinforce or enrich our in-class learning. Additionally, at the ninth grade level it is important for students to learn that doing homework is a habit that they must develop if they are to succeed in college.

Homework is an extension of the classroom where a student has the opportunity to practice, extend, or prepare for future learning. The student should find the assignments manageable with the idea that homework should not extend past a certain amount of time.

I feel that homework is necessary. The students who are the most successful in school are those students who do the assigned homework, participate in class, study for tests, take notes and in general do what they are told.

Homework is sometimes necessary to allow students to master topics in curriculum.

I understand that children lead busy lives outside the school setting so I try not to give too much hamework on any given day. I believe they should have to spend no more than about 15-20 minutes of homework on a given day. Students are usually given class to to get started with assignments so I can answer any questions they may have. They are often able to complete their work in that time period.
